Sponge Buddy

This is the first idea I made up in 1983. Because of my disability (thalidomide child) I had a difficult time with bathing and needed a way of washing myself without the assistance of someone else. The solution presented it's self quite easily, get a piece of foam rubber and glue it to a bathmat. The mat has suction caps which sticks the foam to the wall..... easy. The hardest part was finding a glue that will hold the two pieces together permanently.
The sponge was cut professionally by Maxfoam in Auckland nz, I had Steve do a nice ribbed surface to rub against and there are channels that run down the gluing side to make the sponge luxury soft and to release water easier when it is squeezed out.

As You can see, it defiantly works and does a good job too. To rinse it out I pull it from the wall, drop it on the floor and wash my feet with it. All the soap comes out quite quickly. It is then rolled up, squeezed out and stuck back onto the shower wall. Any remaining water will drip out over the next few hours. Sponge Buddy is washing machine washable and keeps it in a hygienic condition.
