Martin Jetpack Fan Page

I LOVE THIS CRAFT...

For those of us who like the thrill of throttle and speed, the sound of powerful engines and the excitement that comes from an element of risk, the Martin Jetpack has got to be an ultimate rush....

Many of us know what an open road, a bike and some wind in the hair can do for your spirit, it sets you free from the mundane world and takes you on a journey of discovery. Beyond that is a freedom to fly, see the world through a birds eye and your heart races with excitement as our senses are flooded in a lofty point of view.

Having been a ultralight pilot, I'm familiar with the sport in reasonable detail, so when I first heard about the jetpack I knew right then that it is an ultimate extension of microlight aircraft. The Jetpack facilitates a true vertical takeoff and landing, it hovers perfectly and can fly forwards at 100km's/hr. It is essentially a twin ducted fan thrusting unit that is set up so that balance is found at stationary hover. It is driven by a 2litre V4 aviation engine which was made specially for this machine.

Wouldn't you like being that guy? I think it's Harrision...

A pair of ducted fans are fundimental to this design, the craft is entirerly thrusted into the air by it's engine power. From a look at the photo below, you can see that both fans rotate counterclockwise....

Carbon fibre is in just about everything on this machine. Notice the attention to details like the wonderfully well finished curving surfaces of the panels, their cabron fibre work is fantastic. The decals down it's spine is a nice touch.. :--)

At's all up weight with pilot is around 300kgs so it's a wee too heavy to carry on your back. See the undercarrage in the photo below, it is carbon fibre / resin with aluminium alloy and it is retractable during flight. So, how do I roll it out of the garage in the morning? Maybe I can have one with it's very own transport trailer come landing platform. That way we can rock up to an event with it behind the car, fold open the trailer and to impress the crowd!... :-)

WOW!!
